After another successful grading on Saturday 18th August, it is back to normal classes for the coming week. The academy will be open until 8pm this Friday evening and we will then close for the Bank Holiday before reopening on Wednesday 29th August at 10:15am.
There are many changes that are occurring within the academy at the present time, a great number that are being done are in the background, that will ultimately lead to an enhanced academy and training centre.
We look forward to seeing everyone this week and hope everyone has a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend.
19th August 2012 sees the next grading day for Adult Budo students at the Academy. The grading will start at 2:15pm. We look forward to seeing everyone who is grading then, and would like to wish everyone good luck for the day.
Hard work in training will be rewarded on the day, take the time to enjoy the whole process of the training at the academy.
Saturday 28th July 2012 saw three Junior students attempt their Junior Black Belts at the Academy in Dewsbury.
Their day started on their arrival at 9:30am with the first of a series of classes and fitness sessions which would last most of the day. After a well earned lunch break, the three students then took part in a dedicated training session, where they were joined by several other students who came in to take part and help them with their test.
The formal test section took place at 3:00pm, a test that they all did well in and proved that they were ready to be a Junior Black Belt at the Kokoro Academy in Dewsbury. Their grading day finished at 3:45pm.
Huge Congratulations to Jack, Liam and Simon on their new ranks, from all the Instructors and Students.
The weekend of 14th and 15th July was a huge success at the Academy.
On Saturday the 14th as well as regular classes held throughout the day the afternoon saw the gradings for the Little Ninja and Junior Budo students. These gradings are held every three months and are getting better and better with every events. 29 students took to the floor to test for their next belt level, including our Junior Black Belts who performed a demo as part of their test to over 70 friends and family of the students participating. Congratulations to all those who tested and passed their next rank. On the 28th July 3 students will be taking their Junior Black Belt test, more details to follow.
On the Sunday, it was the time of the Adult Budo students to take part in a workshop which included a pre Black Belt test. This is the first time that the academy has run a pre test, and from the comments received has been a success. Massive thanks goes out to 4th Dan Chris Bentley for helping with the teaching throughout the day. This October will see the largest ever Adult Black Belt Grading Day. Three months left now to polish up on techniques and ensure the mind and body are ready.
Again thanks to all the instructors and students of the Academy who make these kinds of weekends possible. Without you none of this would be possible or worthwhile.
The next few months are going to be a busy time for the Academy in Dewsbury.
Starting this weekend 14th July we have Junior Budo Grading followed on the Sunday with an adult basics workshop that will include a pre black belt test.
Later in the Month see’s our Junior Black Belt grading, followed the next day by the first of our annual summer camp days.
Note for the diary is the weekend of the 18th August, Adult gradings followed on the Sunday with a Sparing competition for all members of the academy. August also sees the remainder of our summer camp days.
Further details available on reception, and emails will be sent out to all academy members shortly. This is the start of a busy period for the academy over the next few months.
This August will see the introduction of a new timetable for lessons at the Academy for the adult students.
This new timetable will see extra sessions being added, with the added bonus of the classes being more flexible.
The reason for the changes is to improve the overall aspects of the academy, and to ensure the academy is providing the best in terms of facilities and teaching and to make it the academy to be at in West Yorkshire.
More changes will become apparent over the next few months.
